| The Acorn Archimedes was the first RISC-based computer meant for use in the home. It was first released in the UK in 1987, and it used an operating system called ARTHUR (allegedly standing for "A Risc-based operating system by THURsday"). This was quickly junked in favour of RISC OS 2, which was a superior operating system. The current version of RISC OS is version 4, and it runs on the Risc PC. |
